This is a free budgeting service delivered by Connecting Communities Wairarapa.

It’s for individuals, family and whānau who are experiencing financial hardship. 

Our team of volunteer mentors can work with you one-on-one to develop a budget, set financial goals and create an action plan so you can move towards financial independence.

Volunteers needed 

We’re looking for volunteers to be BFC mentors. You’ll be helping individuals, families and whānau experiencing financial hardship to create a budget, set goals and create a plan to work towards financial independence. 

Having a great understanding of finance is not the priority. As a volunteer mentor you’ll get on well with people be able to support clients to gain confidence to achieve their financial goals. The needs of our clients, their families and whānau are at the centre of our service, and you'll be helping us to make sure they receive the right support.  

You’ll work one-on-one either at a client’s home or at the Connecting Communities office. We have some great user friendly material to support your work.

We’ll train you and the hours are flexible to suit you and your client. We are careful to check that all our mentors have no criminal record and are good role models. All volunteers need to be police checked. Please fill out the police vetting form.
