Youth Development

Youth Team

Connecting Communities Wairarapa holds the two Masterton Youth Development Coordinators.  Our roles are to ensure Youth Development for all young people residing within the Wairarapa working closely with Masterton, Carterton and South Wairarapa District Councils.

The Youth Team does this by developing programme, workshops, conferences and events focused around youth needs, encouraging youth participation in decision making, project management and implementation.

As Youth Development Coordinators we also facilitate the Wairarapa Youth Council enabling youth voice in local government while supporting other local youth services and youth groups within our communities.

Youth Council

It is important for young people to participate in issues and have a voice in decisions made affecting them in their communities. The Wairarapa Youth Council does just that.  The Youth Council represents youth from all over the Wairarapa aged 12 – 24 years old.

The Youth Council is interested in the Wairarapa and helping our communities.  We work closely with the Masterton District Council and often have the Mayor attending our meetings.  We do a variety of things ranging from attending Council meeting, planning youth events, hosting conferences and being a youth voice for our peers.

We want people representing the different viewpoints and background of the Wairarapa youth if you are keen to join the youth council and are between 12 and 24 years old we want to meet you. Cherie's contact details are below.
