Community Development

Community Development, delivered on behalf of Masterton District Council, is a method of working together to create and achieve locally owned visions and goals.

Communities come together to decide on their issues, concerns and strengths  that they can build on to meet some of those challenges.

One way to implement change is through Neighbourhood Planning: a partnership with our communities to improve and develop their neighbourhoods. It puts communities in charge of developing a vision for their neighbourhoods and then partnering with Council to make it happen. This vision is brought together through community consultation and developed into Neighbourhood Plans, which lay out the community's goals and aspirations for the future of their neighborhood.

Currently we are working with Lansdowne and Masterton East.

As Community Development workers we also initiate and support activities that celebrate our local days of significance.
